Victoria Francés was born in 1982 and spent her childhood in the magic forests of Galicia, Spain.
The gothic atmosphere she discovered on her first trips to Paris and London influenced the latent romanticism and, mystic quality of her artwork.
While studying Fine Arts at San Carlos University, in Valencia, she made her professional debut: Illustrating covers, posters, and other graphic work commissioned through Norma Editorial.

Francés and her popular style are inspired by the Gothic movement, and her work is considered a model to follow in terms of illustration within this genre. She is influenced by a number of writers including Edgar Allan Poe, Anne Rice, Goethe, Baudelaire, Bram Stoker, as well as illustrators such as Brian Froud, Arthur Rackham, Edmund Dulac or Luis Royo and bands like Dark Sanctuary, whom she worked with in 2009.

Her first volume of illustrations appeared in print, in 2004, Favole 1: Lágrimas de Piedra (Stone Tears). Based on her memories of the cities of Venice and Verona. Written, and illustrated by the artist. This work confirmed her internationally as an established, young illustrator, at only 22 years of age. Her incredibly successful collection of art prints based on the universe of Favole was launched soon after by Norma Editorial.

Favole 2: Libérame (Set Me Free), Victoria Francis’s second edition was launched in 2005. In 2006 the third title of the Favole series was published: Gelida Luz

Angel Wings was released, to coincide with the 23rd Comic Fair in Barcelona. Dressed in the same Goth-inspired clothes worn by many of her characters, she was the star of the book signing, mobilizing hundreds of faithful supporters. Today, Victoria Francés is a phenomenon reaching well beyond the illustration world.

Favole is published for the American market, by the prestigious publishing house, Dark Horse.

As of today, The Favole trilogy has been translated, and published in: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Holland, Germany, France and USA
